When Genesis launched its first model, the G90, back in 2017, it wasn't reserved about its intentions. The industry's newest premium brand set out to challenge Tier 1 automakers by bringing a fresh approach to the legacy notions of luxury. Four years, four acclaimed models, and one North American Car of the Year award later, Genesis continues defying conventions and making first-class luxury more widely accessible.
From the G70 luxury sports sedan to the all-new GV80 midsize luxury SUV, Genesis models have garnered both critic and consumer admiration for their striking designs, elegant accommodations, advanced amenities, and invigorating driving dynamics. Today, luxury is about more than plush seating, premium materials, and meticulous attention to detail. It's also the features and technologies that keep you safe, enhance convenience, and elevate every experience behind the wheel. And while many luxury brands reserve their best equipment for top tiers and options packages, Genesis models include many of them as standard. Here's a look at our eight favorite Genesis technologies:
- Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM): While standard blind-spot monitoring systems just show a warning light in the side mirror, BVM provides a video feed of the adjacent lane when the turn signal is activated. The video appears in the digital gauge cluster so that you don't have to turn your head away.
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go: Standard on all Genesis models, this driver-assist feature can help Hawthorne drivers mitigate the stress and fatigue of extended road trips and tedious evening commutes by automatically adjust speed to match leading vehicles. And unlike some similar systems, it can come to a complete stop and resume with the flow of traffic without driver input.
- Highway Driving Assist (G80, GV80 G90 ): This system augments the Smart Cruise Control system by maintaining the vehicle's center lane position and adjusting speed to account for curves. With the 2021 G80 or GV80, Manhattan Beach drivers can enjoy the added convenience of an upgraded HDA II system, which can execute lane changes when you activate the turn indicator.
- Surround View Monitor: Using images from several different camera perspectives, this system stitches together a complete 360-degree view of your vehicle's surroundings, allowing you to avoid possibly unseen objects when maneuvering at slow speeds.
- Genesis Digital Key (G80, GV80): This phone-as-a-key system lets you access and start your Genesis with a physical key. The Digital Key can be shared with up to three people and features seating position and audio presets for each driver.
- Remote Smart Parking Assist (G80, GV80): Have you ever had to carefully squeeze into or out of your car because the vehicle in the adjacent space parked too closely. With Remote Smart Parking Assist, you can advance or reverse your Genesis from the outside using the key fob.
- Lexicon® QuantumLogic® Surround Sound: From background listeners to enthusiasts to discriminating audiophiles, everyone will appreciate the rich sound, full stage, and precise fidelity of Genesis' Lexicon premium audio systems. The G70 offers an available 15-speaker system, G80 and GV80 offer an available 21-speaker system, and the G90 comes standard with a 17-speaker system.
- Blind-Spot and Rear Cross-Traffic Avoidance Assist (G80, GV80, G90): Almost every car in the industry offers some manner of front collision mitigation, but few offer collision intervention for lane changes and reversing. These systems provide visual and audible alerts when a vehicle or object is detected in your intended path. And if there is risk of collision, the vehicle can automatically apply the brakes or steer away from the hazard.
